Engine Strengthening Project Begins

So to follow up from Friday’s debacle, five well placed zip ties later and I was able to make it home sans issue after my Suction Pump failed. Looks like I have a black and white Lion Fish under my hood. Funny cause normally this would probably result in a tow truck and hefty bill at the Stealership.

#19 was the offending party. It actually split open all the way around (just to the left of the red number 19 below). Without going into too much detail, the cracked open piece no longer held air pressure which flows around the engine and enables it to run. Not so good. Apparently this is a common failure point from time to time with this engine. Glad the temp fix was easy. And as it turns out, I actually gained a little bit of power back. Before the failure, it must have been attached well enough but split along the seam as I never noticed any degradation before.

I’m going to place an order for it and a few surrounding parts and then go section by section around the engine looking for weak points. Been thinking about doing this for a while, now it’s getting bumped up on the list.

You gotta love how silly this looks… and equally question how inherently unintuitive the manufacture’s diagramming system is. It’s like, sideways backwards? Seriously Audi… I expect better.
