WWJD - What would Jake drive? Lessons in awesome.

Before we can discuss options, we need to lay down some parameters.  While auto geeks understand the intimate language and characteristics of automobiles, like farmers understand soil or bears understand picnic baskets (does anyone even use those anymore?), we need to discuss the makings of a substantial vehicle.

Delivery.

There’s quick and then there’s fast.  There’s powerful and there’s almighty.  When you step on the gas, does the car slothishly get off the couch or leap into action? Are you frighted to leave your foot depressed on the accelerator for an extended period of time, be it due to safety hazards or embarrassment?  Ooooo, it’s the 2nd one, isn’t it?  Go get that tune up.

While a really fast car all is all bad ass (Amerrrrrrica, FUCK YEAH!!!!111) and everything, most enthusiasts truly appreciate a car that is both nimble and perhaps a tad ferocious in normal driving situations.  Spry, if you will.  Cunning.  Insert obligatory obscure-medium-sized-rare-wild-jungle-cat reference here.

Design.

It need not be exotic, flashy or ostentatious.  This isn’t about having a full gold weave alcantara interior with unobtanium accent trim.  There just has to have some sense of style and purpose.

Listen, Ikea makes dirt cheap furniture and most of it looks pretty damn good.  If the Sweds can pull that off, so should a car manufacturer.  Yes, it really is that simple.  Anyone who owns a Toyota Camry or and Audi A4 should be equally excited for their own reasons to drive that car….  getting inside and thinking to yourself, damn.  This is cool.  I like being here.

Moving on.

Jake requires a vehicle with both style and purpose but more difficult than this, it has to have some soul.  Not ‘a soul’ but soul.  Lets be clear, this is sheet metal, plastic, fifteen thousand moving parts and maybe a touch of evil.*  So it can only have some soul.  See how I flipped that one around on ya?  Stay focused.
